Practice Techniques

This document describes various practice techniques used.

Base Raid

The battalion gets divided into offensive and defensive teams, based on who usually plays in what position. Initially there's a ceasefire. The offensive team takes positions outside the base of the defenders, and attempts to grab the flag and get back into their general base area. If they could do that without all the attackers getting killed at least once, they win.

Everyone, defender or attacker, could respawn and continue till all the attackers were killed at least once each. Each attacker should say "DEAD" when he is killed the first time. When they all say "DEAD" once, or when the flag is in the defender base bounds, the round is over. The defenders do NOT attempt to prevent capture by stealing the attackers' flag.

Once the round is over, there is a cease fire and everyone re-equips and takes positions. Each team consults each other using teamsay and once ready, team leader announces they are ready (only team leader talks for the team). Upon receiving the ready signal from both teams, the battalion leader gives the "GO" signal, upon which the next round begins. ONLY THE BATTALION LEADER (or whoever has the command, in his absence) gives the GO signal.

Public Server Practice

This is used if there are less than 8 marines at the practice. Using Pingtool, the battalion finds a suitable public server with plenty of people, no LPBs and good pings for everyone. A server with a lot of people on one team and very few on the other is preferable. If this is not possible, upon getting onto the server, the battalion divides equally into teams and starts fighting. If, at any point, the battalion leader tells a marine to switch to the other team, he does so without question. The goal is to get all marines on the same team, eventually.
